Not everyone desires a full FACELIFT. Many people prefer to simply reduce sagging in the jaws and neck. A mini facelift safely performed with safety and comfort in mind by board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood clinics can provide stunning results that are noticeable, yet not overly dramatic.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a procedure targeted more toward the lower portion of the face to correct sagging and wrinkles in the cheeks, neck, and jaw area. It provides a more subtle change, since only the bottom half of the face is affected. It takes between 60 and 90 minutes and can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Benefits of a Mini Facelift

Mini facelifts are usually chosen by people who are bothered by sagging skin yet are concerned that a full facelift will make them look artificial. As such, it is a good choice for people who want to look younger, but not “done.” Other benefits to a mini facelift include the following:

  • Less downtime than a full facelift
  • Fewer risk of side effects
  • Almost immediate results
  • Less expensive than a traditional facelift

How Is a Mini Facelift Performed?

The first step involves marking areas of the face where excess skin and other tissues are to be removed. After that, you will be administered local anesthesia, which will allow you to be awake yet not uncomfortable. Incisions will then be made, with the length and number of them depending on whether your operation is endoscopic or non-endoscopic.

In an endoscopic facelift, three incisions are often all that’s needed to allow a tiny camera to be inserted underneath your skin. This camera displays images on a computer screen and guides Dr. Sood in removing tissue. During a non-endoscopic procedure, longer, more continuous incisions are needed along the marked areas. Dr. Sood will visually inspect your tissues, make the necessary adjustments, and then use stitches to reattach them.

Preparing for a Mini Facelift

Prior to having a mini facelift, you should do the following:

  • Quit smoking
  • Stop taking aspirin or other blood-thinning medications
  • Avoid extreme sun exposure
  • Refrain from having chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or facial filler injections

Recovery from a Mini Facelift

You will need to wear a bandage for around 48 hours and should limit yourself to only light activity for the first week or so. Mild swelling and bruising may also be present and can be alleviated with over-the-counter medications and ice packs.

How Much Does a Mini Facelift Cost?

Many people choose mini facelifts because they are more affordable than a full facelift. The cost and payment options such as cash, personal checks, major credit cards, and CareCredit® financing will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Is a Mini Facelift Right for Me?

If sagging skin in the lower half of your face concerns you, a mini-facelift could be ideal, especially if you are concerned about side effects or downtime.
