Frown lines and forehead wrinkles are some of the first signs of aging to appear on the face. Fortunately, these lines and wrinkles can be reduced or eliminated with a brow lift performed by board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood of Haddonfield and Linwood, NJ. With patient safety and comfort in mind, Sood Center provides brow lifts for patients from Cherry Hill, South Jersey, and Greater Philadelphia.

What Is a Brow Lift?

Sometimes referred to as a forehead lift, a brow lift is a procedure that raises the skin above the eyebrows to present a smoother, more youthful appearance. It is often performed to help Cherry Hill, South Jersey, and Greater Philadelphia patients reduce frown lines and forehead wrinkles and make the skin around the eyes appear firmer and tighter. A brow lift may be performed in conjunction with a facelift or eyelid surgery for maximum results.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

A brow lift is a procedure that benefits multiple areas of the face. It is effective at tightening forehead skin, lifting sagging eyebrows and eliminating frown lines above the nose. Brow lifts provide immediate results with minimal scarring typically disguised by the hairline. This procedure is very safe and can easily be performed at the same time as other cosmetic surgeries.

How Is a Brow Lift Performed?

Patients undergoing a brow lift in our Haddonfield, NJ or Linwood, NJ office will first receive local anesthesia to numb the area. Once the anesthesia takes effect, Dr. Sood will perform either a classic or an endoscopic lift. In a classic lift, the procedure is as follows:

  • One very long incision is made, beginning at your ears and extending upward into your hairline
  • Excess tissue and skin will be removed to tighten the forehead area
  • Wounds are closed with surgical tape or stitches

In an endoscopic procedure, several shorter incisions are made instead. A tiny scope will then be inserted into these openings to guide Dr. Sood in tightening tissues. Rather than cutting tissue away, tiny anchors are used to hold excess skin and muscle back to create a tightened appearance.

The type of surgery chosen will depend on the degree of wrinkling and amount of excess skin you have. Dr. Sood will make this determination after examining you during your initial consultation.

Preparing for a Brow Lift

Prior to having brow lift surgery, you should do the following:

  • Avoid alcohol
  • Refrain from smoking
  • Abstain from taking certain medications, especially blood thinners
  • Avoid sun exposure, to include tanning booths

The day of your appointment, you should wash your face with a mild antibiotic soap and rinse thoroughly. Do not apply any cosmetics or lotions to your face. Remove hair ornaments, facial piercings, and contact lenses just before receiving anesthesia.

Recovery from a Brow Lift

You’ll need to keep several things in mind during your recovery period from a brow lift, a few of which are the following:

  • Following the instructions for wound care
  • Changing bandages as needed
  • Applying an antibacterial ointment to help reduce the odds of an infection
  • Keeping your head elevated
  • Applying ice to help reduce swelling

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

  • Cash
  • Personal checks
  • Major credit cards
  • CareCredit® financing
