Lost volume and wrinkling may first become apparent around the mouth and on the lips. Restylane® can plump facial folds and increase lip volume safely and comfortably to restore a more youthful, vibrant look. For Restylane® injections, visit board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood.
What Is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a dermal filler that contains ingredients that work together to mimic the hyaluronic acid that naturally occurs in the body. Lowered levels of hyaluronic acid can lead to a loss in facial or lip volume, in addition to wrinkling around the nose and mouth. When injected into these areas, Restylane® restores lost volume, smoothing wrinkles and folds in the process.
Benefits of Restylane®
Restylane® consists of a biodegradable form of hyaluronic acid produced by a natural fermentation process. This process ensures the risk of allergic reactions is extremely low. It is one of the few facial fillers that can be injected into deep tissues to correct moderate to severe wrinkles. Results may be visible for up to six months.
How Is Restylane® Administered?
Your face and lips will be cleansed with an antiseptic cleanser to prepare you for your injection(s). Dr. Sood will prepare a syringe containing a micro-fine needle with up to 6ml of Restylane® for facial treatment or up to 1.5ml for lip treatment. You will receive this amount in one or more areas of your face or lips to ensure a uniform appearance. After receiving your injections, you are then free to leave our office and return to work, school, or other activities.
Preparing for Restylane®
Your face and lips should not become sunburned or windburned prior to receiving your injections. On the day of your appointment, do not wear makeup or lotion of any kind on the area being treated. You may need to remove mouth, lip, or tongue piercings, depending on the area(s) being injected.
Recovery from Restylane®
A slight tingling or numb sensation is normal after a Restylane® injection and should go away within 30 to 60 minutes. Bruising at one or more injection sites is also common but is typically rather mild. Light swelling may also occur a day or two after visiting our office. Taking ibuprofen can help eliminate swelling or any other discomfort you feel.
How Much Does Restylane® Cost?
The cost will depend on the amount of product needed to produce the results you desire. We can discuss your cost and our various payment options with you during your consultation. To make paying for Restylane® as easy as possible, we accept personal checks, cash, major credit cards, and CareCredit® financing.
