Facial Contouring

Sculpt the Profile You Want in Linwood and Haddonfield, New Jersey

While a facelift and similar procedures are ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy a more youthful look with lasting results, not everyone who wants a change is ready for surgery. With nonsurgical facial contouring at New Jersey’s Sood Center, Dr. Mohit Sood and our team of injectors can accomplish beautiful rejuvenation that doesn’t require incisions or sutures. The results are more subtle and last months to years, but are ideal for women and men seeking facial rejuvenation without the need for significant downtime or healing after.

What Is Facial Contouring?

Our facial contours define the shape and form of our face, with the lines of our jaw and cheeks, the relationship between our various features, and other elements combining to create our unique appearance. Unfortunately, over time, our distinct contours can change as the skin loses collagen and elastin, bone mass decreases, fat diminishes and migrates downward, and more unwanted changes develop due to the aging process, sun damage, and the effects of gravity. Eventually, we may find that we look older, even if we still feel vibrant and young at heart. We may even feel that we no longer look like ourselves!
Facial contouring is a cosmetic strategy that addresses multiple signs of aging at once with a range of appropriate treatments and techniques. By blending the effects of fat reduction, volume restoration, and skin tightening, Sood Center’s team can restore more youthful contours by better defining the lines and angles that convey health and vitality.

What Can Facial Contouring Include?

Contours are closely tied to volume, which is why our faces can appear to change so much when we gain or lose even a little fat or collagen in key areas. The goal of facial contouring is to improve definition and sculpt well-balanced contours, so adding or taking away volume in strategic ways is a proven strategy for facial rejuvenation. Most facial contouring sessions include injections of dermal fillers, which are designed to mimic the body’s own natural collagen and elastin or to prompt the actual creation of new collagen and elastin in specialized skin cells. Hyaluronic acid-based options in the Juvederm® and Restylane® families are ideal for this, providing volume to fill in hollowed cheeks, subtly lift away jowls, restore jawline definition, and create a more pronounced chin. Radiesse® and Sculptra® are injectable fillers designed to trigger renewed collagen production. Many fillers are also used for lip augmentation, which can improve fullness and definition in the lips and mouth region.
Another common treatment in facial contouring sessions is Kybella®, which breaks down fat cells in isolated pockets and is FDA approved specifically for reducing a double chin. CoolSculpting® can also be used to freeze unwanted fat cells in a double chin, leading to gradual reduction and improved contours. Getting rid of so-called “submental fullness” can help to create better definition in the chin, jawline, and neck area. This gives your profile a refined and “sharper” look, instead of a soft appearance with the chin and lower face simply blending into the neck below. There are other nonsurgical strategies that can be combined with injectables for facial contouring. Microneedling and various laser treatments can provide a modest skin-tightening effect, which further sculpts the face. BOTOX®, typically used for smoothing expression-related wrinkles on the upper face, can also be injected lower to create a more slender jawline by relaxing key muscles.

How Much Does Facial Contouring Cost?

Since every facial contouring session is unique and customized to a patient’s specific needs, pricing will vary greatly. We will discuss this with you during a consultation when we determine what facial contouring strategies will help you to achieve the look you are seeking.

What Is the Sood Center Facial Contouring Experience?

Your experience with facial contouring at New Jersey’s Sood Center will depend on what your treatment includes. Injections of facial fillers are artfully used with care, and many people find that they don’t need any anesthetic to make the process more tolerable. Those who do want to reduce the sensation of their injections can discuss anesthetic options with us prior to their session. Many modern laser devices are built to include cooling technology for maximizing patient comfort during a treatment. Fat freezing with CoolSculpting® can cause feelings of intense cold (as expected) as well as some pressure.

We will explain these effects—as well as managing them—at your consultation to help you prepare.

What Happens After Facial Contouring?

The various treatments we employ have differing timelines when it comes to visible effects. The volume added by fillers can be seen right away, while collagen and elastin production triggered by lasers takes some time to build up the vital molecules. Fat-reduction treatments are also gradual, with bulk reducing over a matter of weeks and months.

Some patients see their desired contours after a single session, while others return for follow-up visits to build on their initial results.

All of these facial contouring options carry some side effects, with bruising, swelling, and discomfort being especially common. These will all fade quickly on their own.

Is Facial Contouring Suitable for Everyone?

Facial contouring can be an ideal way to rejuvenate the face for the right patient, but some people are better suited for injections, lasers, and fat-freezing than others. We will discuss your goals, examine your face, take a detailed medical history, and perform more pre-treatment activities to ensure you get the treatments that are ideal—and safe—for you.
