If you struggle to grow the long and thick lashes you desire, lash growth serums may be the solution you are looking for. These potent and nourishing formulas improve eyelash length and density in many patients. When you are ready to take control of your lash growth, our aestheticians at Sood Center offer two unique serums to help you meet your goals.

Why Try Lash Growth Serums?

Long and thick eyelashes contribute to a more feminine appearance that many people desire. However, it is common for eyelashes to lose their length and thickness with age. You may have had luscious lashes in your teens and 20s, but now notice that they are thinner, shorter, or sparser.

Certain cosmetic products may also contribute to diminished lashes. False eyelashes can damage and break your natural lashes when you take them off, and they can even damage the underlying hair follicles and inhibit their activity. Curling your eyelashes, using expired mascara, and sleeping with heavy mascara on can also lead to lash loss.

Lash serums provide a solution to eyelashes that have grown thin and wispy or disappeared due to aging, product use, or certain medical conditions. These serums nourish your existing lashes while stimulating the growth of new lashes.

Encouraging lash fullness and growth with serums may help fill in gaps or bare spots to restore lost volume and provide healthier-looking lashes.

Lash Serums Offered at Sood Center

Sood Center offers two similar but unique lash growth serums to help take your lashes to the next level.

Latisse

Latisse is a go-to treatment for many patients, and it is the first FDA-approved prescription medication for women who do not have enough lashes or have sparse or inadequate lashes.

The active ingredient in Latisse is bimatoprost. Researchers believe that this compound increases lash length and thickness by altering the anagen, or growth, phase of the eyelash hair cycle. Bimatoprost extends the length of the anagen phase and increases the number of hairs in each phase.

If our aestheticians prescribe Latisse, you may carefully apply the serum once a day directly on the base of the lashes on your upper eyelids using a sterile, prepackaged applicator for each eye. You should not use Latisse on your lower eyelids. Before applying Latisse, remove contact lenses and make sure that your face is clean and makeup-free.

The results of Latisse are gradual, and it takes most patients about 16 weeks of daily Latisse use to see their desired results. After 16 weeks, your lashes should look longer and thicker than before. However, it is important to note that everyone’s body is unique, and the timeline for your results may differ from the average.

Nu-Cil

Another popular treatment for underwhelming lashes is Obagi Nu-Cil. This eyelash-enhancing serum also targets the anagen phase of the lash cycle to support overall growth and nourishment.

Instead of bimatoprost, Nu-Cil uses a unique blend of biotin, sodium hyaluronate, panthenol, and a proprietary lipid compound to achieve longer, thicker, and healthier-looking lashes in as little as eight weeks.

Biotin encourages strong and healthy hair growth that can help your lashes look thicker and fuller. Meanwhile, panthenol hydrates and softens your lashes. It also enhances shine, creating a healthier and more alluring appearance. Lastly, sodium hyaluronate is a form of hyaluronic acid that helps keep your lashes moisturized, nourished, and happy.

Like Latisse, you will apply Nu-Cil only to the base of your upper lids. After you apply it daily, you may notice early results in as little as eight weeks. Many users see the most significant improvement in their lashes after 16 weeks, so completing your prescribed treatment plan is important to achieve the best results.

Which Is Right for Me?

Everybody has unique needs and circumstances that are important to consider when determining whether a lash growth serum treatment plan is right for them. That is why it is important to meet with our aestheticians to determine which lash growth serum is right for you.

During your consultation, our aestheticians will help you determine whether lash serum is right for you and, if so, whether Latisse or Nu-Cil would best serve your goals.

Recovery and Side Effects

You will apply lash serums as a regular part of your daily routine. There should not be any recovery period after using the serum.

However, there are some possible side effects of both Latisse and Nu-Cil. Both products may cause temporary or permanent discoloration around the eyelids. In rare cases, patients have seen permanent darkening or brown pigmentation within the iris of the eye. Your consultation with our aestheticians will include a frank discussion about all side effects associated with lash serums and how likely you are to experience them.
