Perlane in South Jersey

Eliminating deep wrinkles doesn’t necessarily require surgery. Perlane® is one treatment that can be performed safely as an outpatient procedure in the Linwood, New Jersey office of board-certified South Jersey plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood.

What Is Perlane®?

Perlane in South JerseyPerlane® is a facial filler manufactured by the same company that makes Restylane®. Both Perlane® and Restylane® are gel-like formulas containing hyaluronic acid and are used to plump the skin and add fullness. Perlane® differs from Restylane® in that it contains larger particles, making it a better choice for filling deep wrinkles. Unlike Restylane®, Perlane® is not recommended for injection into the lips.

The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® attracts and then binds water molecules, thereby increasing volume. Your results will be noticeable for around six months, after which time Perlane® is naturally absorbed by the body and eliminated.

Benefits of Perlane®

Certain facial areas such as the cheeks tend to lose volume over time, which can lead to sagging skin and a sunken, hollow look. Perlane® plumps the skin, giving the face a more youthful, tighter appearance in the process. Since it also smoothes wrinkles, it transforms the face in multiple ways to help you reverse signs of aging.

How Is Perlane® Administered?

Dr. Sood will first prepare the right amount of medication and place it into a syringe containing an ultrafine needle. Several very small injections may then be given into deep tissues of the skin to produce the desired results. A Perlane® treatment normally takes between 30 and 60 minutes, after which time you are free to leave our clinic and resume normal activities.

Preparing for Perlane®

Prior to receiving a Perlane® injection, you should avoid taking the following:

  • Aspirin
  • High doses of Vitamin E
  • John’s Wort
  • Prescription blood thinning medications
  • Anti-inflammatory medications, even over-the-counter ones such as ibuprofen

Recovery from Perlane®

There may be itching, redness or swelling present at any of the injection sites, but this normally goes away within a day or two. Taking ibuprofen or applying an anti-itch cream is usually all that’s needed to alleviate these symptoms.

How Much Does Perlane® Cost?

We will be happy to discuss Perlane® costs and payment options during your consultation. A few of the convenient payment options we offer include the following:

  • Cash
  • Personal checks
  • Major credit cards
  • CareCredit® financing
