There are certain parts of a person’s body that can be disproportionate or have more fatty deposits than what is normal. In those cases, board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood will perform liposuction on the extra fatty areas, which will give a person a more toned and slimmer appearance.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a slightly invasive procedure where excess fatty deposits are removed by a vacuum-like device that sucks it out. This procedure can also be performed in addition to other cosmetic surgeries, like a tummy tuck. This procedure is most commonly performed on the following body parts:
- Stomach
- Thighs
- Butt area
- Upper arms
Benefits of Liposuction
The greatest benefit of liposuction is that it beautifully changes the contour of a person’s body. It makes a person’s problem areas shapelier, appear firmer and tighter, and it gives them the opportunity to achieve a toned look when exercise hasn’t been effective.
How Is Liposuction Performed?
Stages of liposuction include:
- The part of the body being worked on is numbed with local anesthesia.
- A series of incisions are made in the area being treated.
- A thin tube known as a cannula is inserted underneath the skin.
- The fat cells are sucked into a vacuum.
- The wounds are closed.
