Because signs of aging tend to be most visible on the face, it can easily give away your age. Fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin do not have to be a problem when you undergo a facelift at the Sood Center. Led by board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Mohit Sood, the Sood Center is proud to offer facelifts.
Understanding The Facelift
A facelift is just what it sounds like. It’s a procedure that aims at eliminating fine lines and wrinkles by “lifting” skin on the face and neck that has begun to sag. Since it’s not designed to tighten every part of the face and neck, there are procedures that can be performed in conjunction with a facelift for a more complete look, including eyelid surgery.
Reasons to Consider a Facelift
We all want to look our best, but unfortunately time can and does take its toll on our appearances. When you have a facelift performed, you are able to eliminate decades of stress from your face, allowing you to truly look as young as you feel. Technology is constantly advancing. And with new tools, such as endoscopic cameras and lasers, recovery time has never been quicker, while producing better results.
What Happens During the Facelift Procedure?
There are various methods to perform a facelift, depending heavily on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. Your surgeon may choose local or general anesthesia. Once you are numb, an incision is made starting and ending at each ear and extending into the hairline. After the unwanted skin is removed, the remaining skin is pulled tight and stitched in place.
When laser technology is utilized, the only incision necessary is a one-inch cut beneath the chin. The excess skin is then pulled down and sutured, just as it is done in a traditional facelift. Using endoscopic technology, multiple incisions are made in various places including the scalp, in the mouth and around the ears. Small cameras are placed within the incisions to allow the surgeon to separate and lift fat and muscle from the bone. The result in each case is an appearance that is young and vibrant.
