What Can a Woman Expect During Breast Augmentation Surgery?

A breast augmentation procedure will involve the placement of breast implants inside the natural breasts. The roughly two-hour surgery may be done on an outpatient basis or may involve an overnight stay in the hospital.

What Are The Benefits of Breast Augmentation?

Some of the many benefits that come with a breast enhancement include:

  • Increased fullness.
  • An increase in a woman’s self-esteem.
  • Better appearance with a uniform look.
  • Immediate improvement in appearance.

How is a Breast Augmentation Procedure Done?

A breast augmentation is a major surgical procedure and is performed in a hospital, with the patient put under general anesthesia. During the procedure, Dr. Sood will make an incision into each breast.

Once the incision has been made, Dr. Sood will create space for the implants. The pocket for insertion may be under the pectoral muscle (submuscular) or in space behind the breast’s natural tissue and on top of the pectoral muscle (submammary). The location of this placement depends on the kind of implant that is chosen.

After the implant has been put in place, layered sutures are used to close up the breast tissue. Finally, the outer layer of skin is shut with sutures or closed up with the application of surgical tape.

When the incisions have healed, the patient can enjoy the attractive results of a successful breast augmentation procedure.
